Growing Together Through God's Grace

Music

General Introduction:

Music at Grace Lutheran is an important part of the life of the congregation. The following opportunities are available for adults and children.

Spirit of Grace:

The praise band at Grace Lutheran Church, “Spirit of Grace”, leads the music at the 10:45 Contemporary Service.   The band provides the special music each week and leads the congregation in song with the hymns, with the help of the praise song leaders.  The group has been blessed with members who have many years of professional experience who now use their gifts for the glory of God.  With the use of electric and acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, percussion and vocals, the special music songs selected are mainly original songs written by the band along with some popular contemporary Christian tunes.  The mission of the band is “to use the vehicle of music in a contemporary fashion to enhance the worship experience for the congregation.  We want to lead the church family in songs of worship based in scripture, celebrate the Christian faith, and recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit.”  The band’s first cd was just released on September 1st, 2006.  To find out more, see the band website at www.spiritofgracemusic.com.  If you are looking for an alternative to the musically traditional service, join us in praise at the 10:45 service at Grace.

Chancel Choir:

The Chancel Choir is open to all adults and high school students wishing to make a joyful noise to the Lord. The choir sings most Sundays from September through June, as well as Christmas Eve and Holy Week. The choir rehearses on Wednesday night in the choir room, from 7:30 to 9. The choir season is broken into 5 mini-sessions, allowing those who are unable to commit to the choir for the entire year to sing for a portion of it. It is not necessary to read music to participate in the chancel choir. If you are interested, contact us at music.gracelutrn@verizon.net or call the church office at (610)948-3684.

Amazing Grace Kids’ Praise Team

The Amazing Grace Kids' Praise Team is a fairly new ministry for kids 4th grade and up who love to sing, praise the Lord, and have fun.  Our mission is to share the message of God's love and grace through contemporary music and motion.  "Motion" doesn't mean you have to know how to dance!  You just have to be willing to be moved by the spirit! We'd love for you to join us!

Currently we rehearse every Sunday after the late service in the confirmation room.  Please come and join us.  For more information, contact Amazing Grace Kids' Praise Team Director, Kristin Neff, or the church office at (610)948-3684.

Junior Choir:

The Junior Choir sings in our worship services approximately 7 times from September through June, and is open to children in 1st through 5th grades. They rehearse in the choir room from 9 to 9:30 on Sunday mornings, for three weeks prior to each time they sing in church. The Junior Choir sings a toe-tapping repertoire of music that is very appealing to this age group. They usually sing at the 10:45 service, although occasionally will sing at the 8:15 service. This choir is always in need of parent volunteers.

Brass Choir:

The Brass Choir plays on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday. Interested persons should contact Lea Phipps.

Vocal Soloists and Instrumentalists:

Numerous opportunities exist for vocal soloists and solo instrumentalists wishing to use their gifts to the glory of God. If you are interested, contact us at music.gracelutrn@verizon.net or call the church office at (610)948-3684.

Cantatas:

The Chancel Choir presents Cantatas on the fourth Sunday of Advent and Palm Sunday of each year. Those wishing to join the choir for these events only are invited to do so. Rehearsals are usually held on the four Sundays prior to each cantata, after the 10:45 service for 2 hours.

Worship Leaders:

Individuals with a strong hymn singing voice are invited to serve as worship leaders for certain services. Serving as a worship leader involves singing the congregational hymns from the microphone, and sometimes assisting in the teaching of new hymns.
